I'm glad you're here.

I'd like you to know that I treat my clients not as "broken" patients, but as fellow life travelers. I've devoted decades of my life to better understanding the human experience - what types of hardships we face and the mental health impact that can result.

My fascination with philosophy and science have helped me to make some sense of it… That, along with 10,000+ hours spent sitting across from clients and bearing witness to their stories. I share this not to boast that I have all the answers, rather to humbly show that I've spent substantial time doing this work, and have witnessed an abundance of suffering.

The form of therapy I use is called ACT, which stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It’s an effective blend of theory and science that really resonates with me. There is a rich history of research supporting its usefulness and additional studies refining the techniques are ongoing. On a practical level, ACT teaches us how to stop fighting with internal stuff and how to not allow it to run the show either; instead, our values take the lead and everything else comes along for the ride.

When you're in therapy with me, with your permission, I'll gently push you to take a look at what is not working for you in your life. I'll offer perspective, additional behavioral options, and compassionate, straightforward, honest feedback. I might even make you laugh.

Together, we'll identify things you want to change and we'll pay careful attention to the effects of that change, making adjustments with the aim of finding what works better for you.

I view therapy itself as a safe place to feel seen, heard, and understood - a platform from which you can explore feeling seen, heard, and understood outside of therapy.

Curious? Feel free to reach out.
